He is also playing an important role in the next sought-after director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo with Thalapathy Vijay. Galatta Media met the talented director turned actor Gautham Vasudev Menon in the shooting spot of an independent music album song that is made under his production house Ondraga Entertainment. He gave an exclusive interview from the shooting location. When asked about his role in Leo and speculations that his character name starts with J, the director said "I said that and as they kept asking me in an interview in Malaysia. They get offended If I don't say anything so, I said my character name starts with J and I left the interview."

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu director then said he did not expect that answer to become this big because he thought everyone will focus on 'Thalapathy' Vijay. When asked if there are any plans for Gautham Vasudev Menon to collaborate with Vijay. The director said, “I went there as an actor and I have a good understanding with Lokesh Kanagaraj, we are friends and we talk a lot”. The director then revealed that he was offered a role in Vikram but “I couldn’t do it. Then after actor Vijay, production everything was confirmed, He (Lokesh Kanagaraj) called me first and said 'sir, last time we missed it this time surely you have to do it. I will clearly work out the dates'.”. The director then said that he told Leo director that he could give only 7-8 dates and he went there only as an actor and there was no discussion about him doing a film with Vijay in the sets and it's was not right to do that too. "But I want to do a film with him and at some point I will take a story to him”, said the director
