Leading Tamil actor Jayam Ravi's latest film, Ponniyin Selvan: 2, has taken a stellar opening in cinemas worldwide raking in more than 200 crores at the box office. The film directed by Mani Ratnam and featuring music composed by A. R. Rahman is en route to surpassing the numbers of Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which crossed more than 500 crores in collections, and ended up becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2022. As PS: 2 witnesses a strong showing in theatres everywhere, Jayam Ravi recently took part in a special fans festival organized by Galatta Media, which was also attended by the actor's family members, in the presence of the his ardent fans.

The Jayam Ravi fans festival saw the actor's father and Tamil cinema stalwart editor Mohan, mother Varalakshmi Mohan, wife Aarti, and brother and filmmaker Mohan Raja take part and talk about their family. During the interaction, editor Mohan went on to share a hilarious story behind Jayam Ravi and Aarti's love before they got married. He said, "We came to know that he was in love with Aarti. We were postponing this because he was working. We felt it won't be nice if we did this immediately. He's coming up in life at the time. Then, the shooting for Peranmai was going on in Kumily in Kerala and his stills were coming out. And, for his role, he was shedding a lot of weight. We thought that he was losing weight thinking about Aarti. In the end, me and my wife felt really bad for him and went to see him in Kumily. We consoled him telling that everything will happen as per his heart's wishes. We ended up with the false belief that he lost weight thinking about Aarti all the time. He acted really well though and made us feel better. We wanted to share this with you to tell you how much we have understood our children."
