National Award-winning Tamil director Vetri Maaran has several big projects lined up ahead and one among them is the much-awaited Viduthalai starring Soori in the lead role. Touted to be an intense cop drama, the film will see Soori making his debut as a hero in the role of a policeman and also has in its cast names like filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon playing a pivotal role, while 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi will be making an extended cameo as a convict. With a major chunk of filming already wrapped up, there has been a buzz of late that acclaimed filmmaker-cinematographer Rajiv Menon has been cast in Vetri Maaran’s Viduthalai, and his character in the film is said to be crucial.

According to reports, Vetri Maaran has worked on a character that would be fitting for Rajiv Menon, who is expected to join the Viduthalai team to film his portions soon. Gautham Menon, who will also be appearing in the film, will be sharing the screen with Rajiv, who was once his guru when the former served as an assistant director in the latter's Minsara Kanavu (1997). It will be interesting to witness Rajiv, who has made films like Kandukondain Kandukondain and Sarvam Thaala Mayam, alongside Gautham Menon and under Vetri Maaran’s direction. Produced under Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment banner, Viduthalai has music by 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja and will reportedly be coming out in two parts.

So far, only promotional posters and a few stills from the Viduthalai shooting spot featuring Vetri Maaran, Soori, and Vijay Sethupathi have been released as fans await a glimpse of the film in the form of a teaser or trailer. The film has created quite a lot of buzz ever since it was announced that Soori would be playing the lead role for which he also underwent a radical transformation, with his chiseled look for his physique being revealed in a few photo-shoot stills. Apart from Viduthalai, Vetri Maaran will direct Suriya next for their highly-anticipated Vaadivaasal, which is being produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations banner.
