Dhanush's landmark film, the tentatively titled D50, went on floors on Wednesday, July 5, under blockbuster producer Kalanithi Maran's prestigious Sun Pictures banner. The upcoming film also called DD2 marks the two-time National Award-winning Tamil actor's second outing as the director after he made his filmmaking debut with Pa Paandi in 2017. Although the star cast for Dhanush's D50 is yet to be made official, the buzz for the film has been massive ever since it was announced back in January, with the core technical team of the ambitious venture now being revealed.
Soon after the announcement of D50 beginning production was made by Dhanush and Sun Pictures, several notable names in the Tamil film industry took to social media to reveal their participation in the film starting with cinematographer Om Prakash, editor Prasanna G. K., art director Jacki, publicity designer Kabilan, and costume designer Kavya Sriram. It is to be noted that D50 is incidentally a reunion with Dhanush after each of them collaborated with the leading Tamil actor on various projects.

With Dhanush bringing back the people he has collaborated with on a number of occasions for the technical team, we can expect announcements in the days ahead regarding the D50 cast and music director next. As noticed already from the latest poster of the film, he will be seen with a shaved head for his role, which gives a hint of his character being both menacing and dangerous, with speculations on social media stating that he is playing a gangster. Apart from directing and starring in the lead role, Dhanush has written the story and the screenplay for D50 once again after Pa Paandi and Naane Varuvean, thus leaving fans excited about what he is cooking for his landmark film.
