Young filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan made waves even before entering the Tamil film industry and garnered a following with his short films before hitting the bullseye in his big-screen directorial debut, Comali, in 2019. The massive box office success of the Jayam Ravi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Samyuktha Hegde-starrer elevated the director to the big league and he will be donning the role of an actor next in his second directorial, Love Today, releasing in theatres worldwide on November 4. In that light, Pradeep sat down for a candid conversation with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, to talk about his acting debut in Love Today, with the filmmaker also sharing an interesting explanation about whether the film is his autobiography.

Speaking about Love Today, Pradeep said, "We take a few instances from everybody's lives. I've included a few from my own life and what others perceive as well. And, this dedication to my ex is a very sweet dedication. It's not about revenge. When someone gets an award, they dedicate it to our near and dear ones. That cannot be called revenge. Similarly, they're dedicating only an award, whereas I'm dedicating a film." About how he and his ex hold a place in each other's lives now, the Comali director stated, "I don't know whether we are friends, but we don't hate each other. She is going on her path and I am moving about on mine. If my film is getting released, she will ask me about it and I will answer, but we are not friends. Obviously, it can't go that way. At least, I can't go that way. I mentioned in the trailer that this film is dedicated to all ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends. Since the message in the film is funny, I let it be."

Produced by Kalpathi S.Aghoram, Kalpathi S.Ganesh, and Kalpathi S.Suresh under the AGS Entertainment banner, Love Today has Pradeep Ranganathan sharing screen space with Ivana, Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Raveena, 'Finally' Bharath, Adithya Kathir, Aajeedh Khalique, Vijay Varadaraj, Akshaya Udayakumar, among others, while the music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
