Blockbuster Tamil film producer Archana Kalpathi is on cloud nine after the sensational box office and critical response to her latest venture, Love Today, which has been bankrolled under her AGS Entertainment banner. Directed by young filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan, who has also made his acting debut as the hero of the fun-filled rom-com, the film has been declared a blockbuster and is the talk of the town as cinema halls across Tamil Nadu have been witnessing houseful shows. With Love Today now a stellar success, Archana Kalpathi recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta and revealed the process of how the film came to be, while also sharing the story behind how 'Thalapathy' Vijay and veteran producer R. B. Choudary agreed to give the title of their venture released in 1997.

For the uninitiated, Love Today directed by Balasekaran and produced by R. B. Choudary under his Super Good Films banner went on to become a phenomenal success and elevated Vijay's star power in the early stages of his career. Speaking about how the approach for the title was made, Archana Kalpathi said, "It was fairly straightforward. After hearing this story, Pradeep gave me two options - one was App Lock based on his short films, and the other he presented was Love Today. But, of course, I immediately liked the second title and I was quite excited. I then told him we'll try to get this title. So, we approached Vijay sir and R. B. Choudary sir, and they both immediately agreed to give us the title for our film." She added, "For me personally, the responsibility was very high as it was one of my favorite films. It was important for me to make use of that title for the right film. I believed in the story a lot right from the moment I heard it."

With Love Today getting a phenomenal response in Tamil, the film is all set to be released in Telugu on November 18 by Dil Raju, who is also the producer of Vijay's upcoming venture, Varisu, under his Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. Archana Kalpathi, who herself had produced Vijay's box office money-spinner Bigil in 2019, will be looking to come out on top once again with the Telugu version of Love Today as well. Released in Tamil Nadu by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies banner, Love Today stars Pradeep Ranganthan and Ivana in the lead roles, with Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Raveena, 'Finally' Bharath, Adithya Kathir, Aajeedh Khalique, Vijay Varadaraj, Akshaya Udayakumar making appearances in pivotal roles, with music by chart-buster composer Yuvan Shankar Raja.
