‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Bigil released last week as a Diwali treat for fans has turned out to be a massive box office money-spinner yet again from the superstar. Directed by Atlee under the AGS Entertainment at a budget of Rs. 180 crores, the action sports entertainer also includes music by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman, whose ‘Verithanam’ and ‘Singappenney’ songs have become major highlights in the film. With the film now out in theatres in several parts across the world, reputed distribution house, AP International have announced that Bigil is now officially the first Tamil venture to be releasing in Egypt. Set to come out in theatres on October 30 in Egypt, this is no doubt a major milestone indeed for Vijay and the makers of Bigil considering the film revolves around the sport of football, which is highly popular in the Arab nation.

In terms of collections, Bigil has grossed over Rs. 150 crores worldwide and is the fourth film for Vijay to enter the Rs. 150 crores club after Theri, Mersal and Sarkar. Featuring Vijay in dual roles as father (Rayappan) and son (Michael aka. Bigil), the film also includes an ensemble cast featuring Nayanthara Kathir, Vivek, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, IM Vijayan, Indhuja, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Vivek, Yogi Babu, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha Iyer, Soundararaja, Gayathri Reddy, Devadarshini, ‘Thaadi’ Balaji, Dheena among others in important supporting roles.
