As a part of the promotion for his upcoming film Good Night, the actor gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Media. The actor has given a clarification about the incident during the interview. Manikandan said “My intention was not to disrespect Lokesh Sir on that stage. You must under that I am a big fan of Kamal Haasan sir. Lokesh sir has accomplished many things, with that achievement he went and stood in front of Kamal Haasan sir and said he is a big fan. As I could not do that, I expressed my acknowledgment that way. My intention was not to disrespect anyone. I don't generally talk about anyone that way (disrespectfully). So, this was just an overflow of love towards Kamal Sir and he (Lokesh Kanagaraj) knows that."

The actor Manikandan then revealed that he came and spoke to Lokesh Kanagaraj after that speech and said he was going to leave. Lokesh said "no stay back and listen to my reply. It was portrayed on social media as if we fought, it did not happen that way” clarified the actor Manikandan.
