Mulk Movie Review
Mulk is a Hindi drama film directed by Anubhav Sinha. Movie stars Rishi Kapoor, Prateik Babbar, Taapsee Pannu, Neena Gupta in the lead roles.
An innocent family is accused after a terrorist attack. How lawyer Taapsee, also a member of the family saves them all forms the crux of the story.
Anubhav Sinha has taken a burning issue as the core script and presented it as a courtroom drama with solid writing. The content-oriented facts have been conveyed with utmost passion post the interval. Screenplay is overall engaging with a decent first half and emotionally intense second half. Dialogues play a crucial part to elevate the serious situations at the court. Direction is neat with sufficient elements packed strongly by paperwork.
Rishi Kapoor leads the way with quality performance and he has holded the package tightly. Taapsee on the other end rocks as a lawyer, her energy and dialogue delivery during the argument sequences were electrifying. Other supporting artists like the accused man, criminal lawyer and the judge had powerful roles to play and they did it with ease.
Team has made very little compromises, that too at the beginning as the movie takes quite some time to take off. Music is good as the background score works at many areas. Cinematography is also not so great, the angles could have been more closer to create a tension among audience. Editor has done a satisfactory job, still 140mins feels bit long. Production value could have also been better as an important scene was shown abruptly.
Engaging courtroom drama with an interesting terrorism plot
