Two men from Tamil Nadu were arrested in Bengaluru after they were found attempting to sell deerskin there on Monday evening.

Vetrivel (41) and Kannan (32) were picked up with a Mahindra Xylo vehicle near the Ullas Talkies in APMC Yard, Yeshwantpur. Based on a tip-off, the police closed in and inspected the vehicle. They found a large deer pelt wrapped in a plastic bag. Both the men were arrested.

They reportedly confessed that the skin came from a deer that was hunted recently. The men claimed to have purchased the pelt at a low price from a goatherd and planned to sell it in the city at a high price during Eid-e-Milad. Both have been booked under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act and inquiries were on.
