Tamilrockers is a widely popular piracy website that uploads unofficial versions of latest Tamil movies. Despite knowing that piracy is not official in India, a lot of people have always opted to see new releases through Tamilrockers. We have seen every single producer and actor from the industry requesting the people not to encourage piracy, but that has always been a threat to the film industry. Even the films that had a direct digital release in this lockdown faced similar problems. Vishal, during his tenure in the Producers Council, tried to delete the website completely, but the anti-piracy team couldn't succeed.

Having said that, it has now been reported that Tamilrockers has been blocked completely. The entire social media is abuzz about this development and there have been various speculations regarding the same. According to reports, multiple DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) reports have been filed against the piracy site by Amazon International and as a result, the site has been removed form the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) registry.

It is not yet known if Tamilrockers can operate with a newer domain, but as of now, this development will surely come as a sigh of relief for the South Indian film industry, especially the producers and talents from Tamil cinema. Let us hope that this paves way for more Tamil cinema's viewership through official streams.
