India and the rest of the world have been engaged in one of the toughest battles mankind has ever seen to date as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on, with relief efforts ongoing in the form of getting people vaccinated. As the entire globe has been invested in trying to come out of this mammoth ordeal that has left millions affected, India has been going through the second wave of COVID-19, with several states around the country enforcing lockdowns in order to stop the spread of the deadly virus. 

In Tamil Nadu, apart from the government's multiple initiatives in the form of vaccination drives and constant medical support, people from various walks of life are coming forward on an everyday basis to lend as much support in the fight against COVID-19. The state government, which has initiated a strict lockdown, especially in Chennai, is witnessing a slightly positive turnaround as the number of cases have begun to come down, with expectations that the momentum will continue to go forward till May 24. As the livelihoods of many in the state are being affected, the government is taking steps to ensure that the ordeal doesn't leave many in despair, with people from various walks of life now stepping forward to lend support in all forms. 

Tamil cinema celebrities like Sivakumar and his sons Suriya and Karthi, directors A. R. Murugadoss, Shankar and Vetri Maaran, actors Udhayanidhi Stalin and Ajith Kumar have come forward and done their part in supporting the government in their battle against the coronavirus pandemic by extending monetary contributions. Similarly, actors Sivakarthikeyan and Jayam Ravi along with his father and brother had met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at his office and handed over cheques for the CM’s corona relief fund. Sivakarthikeyan has extended a financial contribution of Rs. 25 lakhs, while Jayam Ravi along with his father, editor Mohan, and brother, director Mohan Raja, handed over a cheque for Rs. 10 lakhs to the CM relief fund. These gestures by Tamil cinema's leading names are winning the hearts of the masses, who are being showered with praise on social media.
