Here comes a happy news for diehard fans of Pawan Kalyan. After facing a debacle with his last release Komarum Puli, Pawan Kalyan is back with a bang with a clean entertainer with a romantic streak Teenmaar, directed by Jayant C. Paranjee. A remake of Imtiaz Ali’s Bollywood super hit Love Aaj Kal, Teenmaar lives upto the expectation and the most notable thing about the movie as a remake is that how it has adapted the story from the original. Normally, remakes do not make justice to the original; thanks to brilliant work by the trio – Pawan Kalyan, Jayant and Trivikram, Teenmaar assumes a new life of its own.
The film revolves around Michael Velayudham (Pawan Kalyan), chef based in Cape Town, South Africa, who never cares on long term relations with girls. He meets Meera (Trisha) and they hang out as friends for sometime without realizing that they are in love. While Meera is about to leave for India for a Monumental restoration assignment, Michael gets the sense of his hidden love for Meera and proposes. To make Michael happy, Meera accepts it and both separate for a while.
Later, Sir Jee (Paresh Rawal), a restaurant owner, narrates the love story of his friend Arjun Palvai (Pawan Kalyan), a student leader in Varanasi who fell in love with Vasumathi (Kriti), and he fought against all odds of family barriers to win Vasumathi. How this love story, occured 30 years ago, influences Michael, who represents the present generation, sis the rest of the film.
Teenmaar is basically a two layered love tale interweaved tightly with superb screen play. Although a remake, we find many alterations made to make this a packed Pawan Kalyan film. However, Jayant well directed the episodes without leaving the original flavor at any moment. Script by Trivikram is superb and his dialogues are funny and meaningful. Mani Sharma’s background is awesome and his ‘Vayyarala …,’ ‘Barbie Bommaki…’ and ‘Gelpu Thalupule...’ are picturized wonderfully. Cinematography by Jayanan Vincent is top notch catching the locales from Varanasi to Cape Town. Editing by MR Varma is defective in few lengthy scenes. Production values maintained by Ganesh Babu are ‘A’ class.
Performance wise, it is all the way a show of Pawan Kalyan. Michael Velayudham is his regular best, while Arjun Palvai is fabulous with settled expressions and strong substance. Pawan Kalyan after a long time showed his strength in acting with characters of two different shades. Trisha is ravishing in her new sexy look and well managed the chemistry with Pawan. Ali’s comedy is good to some extent and bad man Sonu Sood looked soft. All in all, Teenmaar is a must watch.
