Nenu Naa Rakshasi, Daggubati Rana's second Telugu movie after his Leader, was touted to be a mass extravaganza and the expectations were pretty much high! But in reality, it has ended up as a dull and poorly made movie because of its completely unconvincing script and weak narration!

Abhimanyu aka Abhi (Rana) is a professional shooter who takes messages from a mediator and kills local gangsters for money. He falls in love with Meenakshi (Ileana), working in a cafeteria. In the same flow, we see Vikram (Subba Raju), a local Circle Inspector with a special duty to track down the YouTube account holder of 'It is My Life Boss', which has some controversial suicide videos.

The first twist in the story happens when Abhi decides to commit suicide and calls up the above said YouTube account holder and requests to shoot his suicide video too. He narrates a small flashback why he wants to kill himself. Later, Abhi finds that the controversial YouTube account holder is none other than Meenakshi. Why did Abhi decide to commit suicide? Why did he choose the profession as a killer and why is Ileana shooting all suicidal videos? All these form the core of the film.

Puri Jagannath, known for mass storylines, touched a message oriented theme based on suicides. Unfortunately, Puri missed all the basics in narration including the characterizations and narration. The movie lacks emotions and anemic from the actors and the climax is ridiculous. Screenplay has numeric loop holes which isn’t the actual style of perfectionist Puri. Cinematography by Amol Rathod is faultless, while music by Vishwa and Rahman isn’t effective.

Performance wise, Rana again didn’t get enough scope to establish himself as a full-fledged actor. He looked manly in stylish costumes but stiff body language and expressionless face did the harm. Ileana is gorgeous even without any makeup and handles her performance-oriented role rather well. Like other Puri movies, Nenu Naa Rakshasi too has separate comedy track between Ali and Mumaith Khan, but is not catchy. Antoganist Ratna played by Abhimanyu Singh is worth mentioning. Subba Raju has different shades to his role, as a disciplined police officer and a father to a baby girl who is nearing death. All in all, Nenu Naa Rakshasi looks like a message oriented documentary with commercial masala.
