One of the classics in Telugu cinema, Vipra Narayana will be remade in Telugu and Hindi soon. Producer Tandra Ramesh, who is making the upcoming Gopichand-Nayanara starrer, is the producer.

He said in a press note that he is trying to rope in big stars to play the lead roles, played by Nageswara Rao and Bhanumathi in the original. It is heard that Vidya Balan and Deepika Padukone are under consideration for the female lead.

It is noteworthy that it is not the first time Vipra Narayana is remade in the history of cinema. Based on the life of Tamil Vaishnava Saint Thondaradippodi Alvar, also called Vipranarayanar or Bhaktanghri Renu Swami, Vipra Narayana was first made in Telugu in 1937. In 1938, it was remade in Tamil. In 1954, it was once again remade as a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil with Nageswara Rao playing the lead role.
