'A' certified movies new trend?

Believe it or not, this is what is exactly happening for the last two years! According to latest reports from the Hyderabad-based Regional Board of Film Certification, an average of 30 films are awarded ‘A’certificates every year!

Of the 134 feature films certified till date this year, nearly 30 films were certified as ‘A’ movies and over 40 films got ‘U/A’ certificate. By this year end, at least another six to seven films ready for release are likely to be in the ‘A’ category, Regional Officer T.V.K. Reddy said. All these films were certified as ‘A’ movies for containing obscene sequences and excessive violence.

The trend was similar last year as well, as over 40 filmsearned ‘A’ certificates. Interestingly, the majority of these films were made by successful directors and actors, he said. Eyeing commercial viability, they are encouraging and literally depending on skin show and violence in movies.

Blockbusters like Pokiri, Bujjigadu, Jalsa, Bangaram, Don, Billa, Ek Niranjan and Magadheera featuring superstars Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Pawan Kalyan, Nagarjuna and Ram Charan Tej have been‘A’ movies, he pointed out.
