Magane En Marumagane brings back a sort of Visu-ism in Kollywood. The film is about family sentiments, laced with humour and struggles. Starring Kannada star Mithun Tejaswi and directed by T. Gajendra, with comedian Vivek playing the lead role for the first time in his career, it is produced by Raj TV.

The film narrates the story of a Zamindar of Singam Patti village (Nasser) and his loving wife (Saranya). Known for their good nature and generosity, the couple has two children: Ponnarasi (Yamini Sharma) and Raghu (Mithun). Raghu studies in a boarding school and gets an IT job in Chennai. Now enters Sringaram (Vivek), a vagabond who is crazy to take over the Zamindar‘s property. He has a plan to marry the Zamindar‘s daughter Ponnarasi and siphon the entire assets to himself. Eventually, he impresses her parents and succeeds in his plan.

But trouble comes in the form of a murder case and Sringaram is imprisoned for a crime which he has not committed. Raghu is tempted by his evil uncle (Livingston), who is behind their property, to marry one of his daughters. But Raghu falls in love with Thenmozhi (Thenmozhi), a sincere and good-looking servant.

Meanwhile, a tiff breaks out between family members and the Zamindar‘s family drowns in debt. Soon after getting released from prison, Sringaram decides to live a meaningful life, moves to Chennai with his wife and become rich overnight. On returning to his village, Sringaram finds out that all is not well between the Zamindar and his son Raghu. Meanwhile, Saranya dies in an accident. What happens next forms the climax.

Vivek comes all through the film and steals the show with his comedy tracks. He plays a negative role and has many double meaning dialogues.

As usual, Nasser is impressive and Saranya gets a meaty role. Mithun needs to work hard on his acting skills. Yamini Sharma does justice to her role while Thenmozhi is artificial. Director Gajendran makes a guest appearance towards the climax. Dheena‘s music is disappointing and Raja Rajan‘s camera work is pretty good.

On the whole, Magane En Marumagane is old wine in a new bottle.
