Review - Chandamama (2013)
Comedians turning heroes are not something new in Kollywood.... Over the years, Goundamani, Vivek, Vadivelu and recently Santhanam have done it successfully, And the latest on the list is Karunas and interestingly Chandamama is not his first film as lead hero. The film is directed by Radhakrishnan and Shewta Basu plays the leading lady. The film has been in the making for a long time, and it is here for us to watch and enjoy... Here we take a look at the plot.
Chandhamama aka Santhanakrishnan (Karunas) is a writer but he is neither wise, creative nor his works are engaging. The whole is a melodrama which narrtes the life story of Santhanakrishnan, how he becomes famous.... The later half of the film shows him as an eccentric writer, the ups and downs of his journey. Sheweta Basu plays Santhanakrishnan's love interest.
The film has everything (melodrama, passion, sentiment) except comedy. Karunas has given an extraordinary performance so is Shwetha Basu, who looks very promising. Srikanth Deva's music is good and the cinematography looks average.
