National award winning filmmaker Prakashraj's second directorial venture Dhoni illustrates the conflict of interests of a father and his son.
The father, played by Prakashraj, wants his son, played by director Puri Jagannath’s son Aakash, to study MBA, but his son is more interested in sports and wants to become a famous cricketer like Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
"The film is a critique of the education system prevalent in the country that puts undue stress on the hapless students without paying heed to their naturual abilities," the director said.
The script was written by Prakashraj himself. The cast include Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mugdha Godse, Radhika Apte, Bahmanandam, Nasser and Thalaivasal Vijay. Prabhu Deva makes a guest appearance. While Ilaaiyaraaja scores music, K.V. Guhan handles choreography. Duet Movies are the distributors. The film is simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil.
