Youngsters moving away from classical music: Gulzar

Gulzar, poet and lyricist par excellence, feels that today's youngsters are moving away from classical music.

"In television reality shows, we see so many talented kids who start singing with classical training but unfortunately almost all of them are in a hurry to become playback singers. With that as their aim, they part ways with classical music, which is very sad," the legend said.

73-year-old Gulzar has a string of awards to his credit, including the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the arts and the Sahitya Akademi Award.
