Veteran actor Y Gee Mahendran has kickstarted a new controversy for his comments on Swathi murder case. In his Facebook page, he stated that Swathi's murder was not given enough attention because of the community she hailed from. He wrote, "Swathi's tragic death.... Is it not as gruesome as Honour killing. Is PMK Vaithyar Ramdas or Vaithyar Anbumani reacting to this at all...Oh.. why shd they....this is A Brahmin Girl after All !!"
Later, he also posted a clarification, "Let me clear the air. The post about tragic murder of Swathi in Tamil Nadu came to me and I shared it with all because I felt at that point that enough fuss was not being made about it as in other similar cases. Only now the protests have picked up. This post was not created by me. (I don't even have Tamil font) I only agreed with its content on that one point. If I had originated it, I would have had the guts to stand by it. I have done so boldly on previous occasion. Believing this or not is the reader's choice. But this is the fact."
