What does Dhaam Dhoom offer?
Please sit back and have a good look at the still from Dhaam Dhoom at the top left corner of this write-up. It looks like a picture-perfect scene from a Hollywood film; such is the cinematography of Dhaam Dhoom which has excellently jelled with Jayam Ravi’s persona and of course, the snowy backdrop of Russian locales unseen so far in any Tamil film. This one single picture gives you a glimpse of what Dhaam Dhoom is capable of delivering. Take another look at the picture and let it do the talking.
For the success of any Hollywood film, three things are very important – cinematography, background music and the lead actor’s persona. Dhaam Dhoom has it all. It has exotic locales presented in a beautiful manner; excellent music by Harris Jayaraj; above all, it has handsome hulk Jayam Ravi.
Another coffer-filler for Hollywood films is the hero’s run – it could be a frantic run to escape from the clutches of the villain or to get hold of him – with lively and exciting background music. Dhaam Dhoom has got this too. In fact, chase scenes are a highlight of this film, which also has a very thrilling and fast-paced screenplay; after all, it is about a doctor who gets into trouble in Russia where he goes to attend a conference.
Heroines are very important in any film. Dhaam Dhoom has two beauties – Kangna Raunat and Lakshmi Rai. Kangna plays Ravi’s love interest and Lakshmi Rai plays a lawyer settled in Russia, who tries her utmost to help extricate him from a messy situation he gets into.
Music is extremely important for any film’s success, especially if it is Indian. Harris Jayaraj is at his best in Dhaam Dhoom. He is a master of eccentric tunes, humming, and minor scales which touch the most unreachable senses in a human being. All the songs of Dhaam Dhoom are favourites, especially 'Anbe En Anbe'.
The film also stars Jayaram, who plays Ravi's saviour, but his character changes colour, details about which are kept a secret. Filmmakers say he has an important, pivotal role.
Dhaam Dhoom rests safely on the broad shoulders of Jayam Ravi (all non-believers should check his amazing deltoids in the anti-piracy campaign video available at Galatta.com). This film is a tool that will transform Ravi into the next action hero of Kollywood. With another action film Peraanmai, which heavily relies on Jayam Ravi, there is no doubt he is going to be the box office king of Kollywood soon.
So, sit back in your seat (of your favourite theatre), relax, and let this magic from the late director Jeeva take over. He has decided to show the world that an Indian film made in a foreign land looks no different from a Hollywood film!
Tomorrow, his dream will be first projected before the public.
