Vinnathaandi Varuvaayaa music review

One of the much-awaited music releases, Gautham Menon's Vinnathaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV) is all set to rock the charts. The album has seven songs composed by the Mozart of Madras, A.R. Rahman. Let's take a look at the album:

'Aaromale'
The soft strumming of a guitar introduces this number. Alphonse's voice has a distinct heart-wrenching yearning in his voice. As Rahman said, the songs do not follow the strict patterns of Pallavi and Anupallavi, and 'Aaromale' confirms that. It is almost a spiritual experience.

'Anbil Avan'
Devan Ekambaram and Chinmayi render the duet 'Anbil Avan', a fast-paced number compared to 'Aaromale',fun and full of melody. It is a great song to enjoy with your friends onlong drives. The use of the piano in the interlude is interesting. This is a song thatreminds you of your loved one.

'Hosanna'
Probably the most talked-about song in the album, 'Hosanna' is a soothing number by Vijay Prakash. Suzanne's haunting interludes add to the flavour of the song. And to top it all is Blaaze, who gives the song its peppy feel.

'Kannukkul Kannai'
Naresh Iyer rocks in the youthful number'Kannukul Kannai'; Rahman goes crazy with the electronic sound in thissong, whichwill definitely be popular amongGen X.

'Mannipaaya'
A song about forgiveness and second chances, everyone will be able to relate to 'Mannipaaya', as we all have gone through the pain that Rahman and Shreya Ghoshal express in their voices. The music in in sync with the lyrics, a wonderful musical marriage.

'Omana Penne'
What can be said about 'Omana Penne'? Benny Dayal is superb in this number. The love in his voice and the way he modulates is amazing. While repeating the words 'Omana Penne', Benny adds a different charactereach time. Kalyani Menon adds an old world charm to the song and the use of the traditional nadaswaram gives it an interesting twist.

'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa'
The title track by Karthikdefinitely encompasses all the emotions and music of the entire album. It has the soothing feel of 'Hosanna', the melody of 'Mannipaaya' and 'Anbil Avan', the yearning that we feel in 'Aaromale' and 'Kannukkul Kannai' and the musical richness of 'Omana Penne'. It is a composition that certainly takes youto the other side of the musical horizon.
