Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Thuppaki has earned over Rs 100 crores by becoming the first one for the actor. Vijay is the only actor after Rajinikanth to have joined the 100 crores club. Talking about it the actor said that the numbers never mattered to him. He added that he is happy that the film has crossed the Rs 100 crores mark. He believes that this will set the bars rolling for others movies in the industry and that the movie business will boom from here on.

With this AR Murugadoss becomes the only director to have joined the 100 crore club in Bollywood as well as Kollywood. His Hindi film Ghajini , which is the remake of Tamil film Ghajini, is among them. When asked if he expected the film to do so well, AR Murugadoss said that he wanted the film to appeal to the mass as well as class and begun with the expectation that it should be the highest grosser Vijay film. The director is currently working on the remake on Thuppaki in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.
