Vidya Balan as Mohiniattam artist in Urumi

The wait is over now! Kerala born Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will mark her Malayalam debut as a Mohiniattam artist in cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan's Urumi, being produced by Santosh Sivan and August Cinema (Prithviraj's newly launched production house).

The award winning actress will reportedly enact the role of a traditional Mohiniattam dancer in a very sensuous manner and her dance will be a fusion of various classical and contemporary dance forms. The song will be shot in Mumbai soon.

The regular shooting of Urumi, being made in Malayalam, Tamil and English, began on August 17. Besides Kerala, the film will be shot in the forest areas of Malshej Ghat, Maharashtra. Starring Prithviraj and pretty Genelia in the lead, the film is based on the assassination of Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama who arrived in Kerala in 1498.
