Veteran actor Nambiar is no more

Veteran actor Nambiar passed away today at about 1:00 p.m. at his home due to ill health; he had been ailing for the past three months. He was 89. Completely opposite to the villain roles he played in the films, Nambiar was a hero in his real life! He was a God-fearing gentleman who had won the hearts of all those who followed Tamil films. Known for his benevolence and involvement in spirituality, Nambiar was a very popular figure in entire Tamil Nadu. The entire film industry regarded him highly and this unfortunate incident has put everyone in great sorrow. This great actor worked with legends like MGR and Sivaji.

Today’s generation was blessed to see his beautiful character roles and he won our hearts with his beautiful acting and childlike enthusiasm. His last release was in 2006.

An ardent devotee of Lord Iyappa, this 'Guruswamy' passed away in the month of Karthigai – a month that Iyappa devotees dedicate to their favourite deity.
