Tollywood bandh on Friday

To express solidarity with producer Yalamanchi Ravichand's “fast-unto-death” demanding that the Andhra Pradesh government�deal firmly with piracy, the entire Telugu film industry will observe a total bandh on Friday, March 19.

Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) president Muralimohan told reporters on Wednesday that all activities related to the film industry would come to a halt on Friday to press the demand for anti-piracy measures.

"MAA has appealed to owners of all theatres to participate in the shutdown. It also urged television channels not to telecast film-related programmes on Friday. Producers will not take up shooting and all the artists including superstars would participate in a rally. A memorandum would be submitted to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to bring piracy under the purview of Goonda Act," he said.

Meanwhile, MAA president and other industry leaders appealed to Ravichand to withdraw the fast. The producer is on fast in front of the Film Chamber office in Film Nagar for the last three days.
