The team of five government officials, four ministers and theater council members including Abirami Ramanathan was supposed to have finalized their talks on the Entertainment Tax at the last board meeting.

However, TN Chief Minister Palanichamy and many other important members were missing as they went to New Delhi to focus on other issues. The officials who spoke were said to have considered reducing entertainment tax to 10% from the original 30% but it will still impose 40% taxes on all ticket rates.

Abirami Ramanathan who had already removed the Rs.30 online booking charges for his theatre said that the government should waive off taxes and should only implement GST. Any other additional tax would deter people from visiting the theaters and enjoying their favorite movies.
