Superstar Rajinikanth's Johnny to be remade by Selva

It is the season of remakes and after Superstar Rajinikanth's Mappillai, it is his Johnny (also spelt Jaani)  that is to be remade by Selva. Mahendran's Johnny starring Rajinikanth, Deepa and Sridevi with music by Ilayaraja is still a classic. Selva, the remake specialist, now presently working on Naan Avan Illai 2, shall start the next project with Jeevan playing Rajni's role.

The lead actress is not yet decided; the makers are reportedly interested in a popular actress instead of a new face. Mayilsamy plays Surili Rajan's part. The other cast and crew is yet to be finalized.
