Sun TV forays into film production

On Monday, Chennai-based TV broadcaster Sun TV Network Ltd., one of India`s largest media and entertainment networks, announced its plans to foray into film production through its new subsidiary `Sun Pictures`.

Sun Pictures will produce films in the four southern languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam and has signed contracts with leading artistes, directors and music directors. The new venture will open new revenue streams for the company, in addition to increasing the size of its vast movie library, Sun said in a regulatory statement. However, Sun did not disclose any financial details regarding the venture.

Sun TV Network operates 20 channels in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam and is licensed to operate 44 radio stations across India.
