Sreenivas-Manorama in Airtel Super Singer
Legendary singers P.B. Sreenivas, L.R. Easwari and Manorama are the special guests for this week's Super Singer show aired from Monday to Wednesday every week at 9 p.m. on Vijay TV. This week, the show focuses on the Black & White era of Tamil cinema and is aptly titled Black & White round.
P.B. Sreenivas, a multi-faceted playback singer from South India, has sung over 1000 songs in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. He has given some mesmerizing tunes like ‘Kaalangalik aval vasantham’, ‘Ninaipathellam nadanthu vittal’, ‘Mouname paarvaiyal’ ‘Ponondru Kandein’, ‘Valarntha Kalai’ and many more. L.R. Easwari, another legendary singer, is perhaps one of the first generation of playback singers to make people shake a leg with her fast-paced songs and husky voice. The third guest for the show, veteran actress Manorama, has acted in more than 1500 films. A versatile actress, she is endearingly called ‘Aachi’ by Tamil audiences. A talented actor and stage artist, she is well-known for her crooning skills also.
Airtel Super Singer 2008 is a reality show which selects the best singing talent through many innovative competitions and rounds like Emotions round, Singing with Playback singer round, Disco round, Folk round, Black & White round, etc. Contestants are judged by established singers Sujatha, Unnikrishnan and Srinivas, based on several criteria related to choice, pitch, tone and rendition of a song.
The present contestants (Ajeesh, Ravi, Prasanna, Vijay Narayanan, Ranjani Renu and Ragini Shree) will perform to some classical evergreen hits of 1960s and 70s in the presence of these legendary singers.
The guests will offer singing tips and share some memorable moments in their film careers.
