His words of wisdom laced with a speck of humour, Superstar Rajinikanth had an interesting tale to narrate while attending the marriage of actor Manivannan's daughter Jothi with Satish.at Aishwarya Mahal on Monday.

Rajinikanth said he came to know of the letters of exchange between Anna and Periyar thanks to this nugget of information provided by Manivannan during the shoot of Padayappa.

“I was in the dark as to why Periyar had opposed the country's independence till Manivannan apprised me of the facts,” recalled Rajinikanth.

In a lighter vein, Rajni said that women prefer to do all the talking at home, leaving the stage open for men at the outside functions. Taking a quick glance at the groom, Rajinikanth said it is the wife who will be the permanent companion for the man and not the so-called friends who are there only when the going is good. Wise words indeed!
