Sneha: Kollywood’s action heroine?

About 15 years ago, Vyjayanthi IPS, Tamil version of Telugu blockbuster Karthavyam rocked Tamil Nadu and broke the two most popular misconceptions: First, a heroine cannot beat the hell out of bad guys and second, a film cannot ride on a heroine’s shoulders. It was also remade in Hindi as Tejashwini and made Vijayshanthi a popular name throughout the nation. Many believed she is a police-woman-turned actress.

Now, it is rumoured that Sneha might play a similar role in a film that is supposedly modelled after Vyjayanthi IPS to be directed by Aarthikumar who directed Sound Party, a Sathyaraj starrer.

Sneha, who tried to shed her demure-girl image in Pandi, has not yet accepted this offer though she is pretty impressed with the script. She must be mulling over the thought whether people who got used to her next-door-girl image would accept her as the action heroine of Kollywood.
