Simbu�impresses Gautham

All naysayers of the Little Super Star are in for a surprise when they hear how well-behaved and forthcoming he was on the sets of his next movie Vinnaithandi Varuvaya directed by Gautham Menon.

Known for his punch dialogues and masala movies,�everybody�was surprised when Simbu landed a movie with Gautham Menon, who has made subtlety his forte! And from the title alone one can fathom that this is no usual commercial flick. While many put on a sarcastic smile and some felt sorry over Gautham’s indiscretion, Simbu has proved he can be a good boy too!

“When we went to the Producers’ Council, someone there said, ‘Oh! You’re making a film with Simbu? He won’t come on time. For the first ten days, he’ll be there and then you’ll be waiting for him for the next six months. We finished this film in 60 days,” exclaims Gautham. Adding, “What’s more, in Malta, we had early morning shoots. If I told Simbu to be there at 6.00 a.m., he would be there at 5.45 a.m. Normally, Simbu works during the night and sleeps through the day. But for me, he changed that around. And he’s such a good dancer that he required no rehearsals. Just as I look forward to working again with Kamal sir and Suriya, I look forward to working with Simbu as well.”

What will not surprise us though, is how much Gautham adores and respects A.R. Rahman, because at this point of time, the whole world is looking up at the musical genius with awe! “You feel humbled when you walk in and out of Rahman’s studio. There was great sync between us right from the word go. When he and I were in discussion, there were times when people such as Ashutosh Gowarikar and Abbas Tyrewala were waiting outside! Many of the inputs to Thamarai were from Rahman. I thought he wouldn’t interact and he’d let me handle it. But, he sat there and gave�suggestions when it came to choosing words. On the whole, it was a great experience working with him,”�Gautham said.
