Showcause notices slapped on actresses
Showcause notices have been issued to actresses Nayantara, Meera Jasmine, Namitha and Meenakshi. The four were conspicuous by their absence in the promotional events of the movies in which they figured. This decision was taken by South Indian Film Artistes' Association, following a representation from the Producers' Council and the Film Federation Employees' Association.
The charges against Nayantara, Meera and Namitha are not attending the audio launch functions of Aadhavan, Adinarayana and Azhagana Ponnu respectively. Meenakshi failed to turn up for the movie launch of Agampuram.
Producers' Council Head Rama Narayanan said that action would be taken depending on the veracity of the replies. "When the stakes are so high right from the time the movie goes on the floors, the artistes have a moral responsibility to contribute their mite in the success of a movie. Hopefully, a solution would be found soon," said Rama Narayanan on an optimistic note.
