Sathyaraj and serious cinema!

Sathyaraj, who stepped into Kollywood as a villain and graduated to�hero roles is quite decisive about his roles. What does this experienced and quick-witted actor who is still enjoying a hero status�(when his son is also cast as hero) think about this evergreen hero business? "Well,�I would really prefer roles where I am cast as the real hero, as the powerful protagonist," says he. Like Sivaji Ganesan and Amitabh Bachchan who made their mark in any movie they appeared in, no matter who was billed as the hero,�Sathyaraj wants to do meaningful roles. Given a choice, he would definitely stay away from the cliched ritual of romancing and running around trees. Periyar, based on the life and career of the great political leader, is one of Sathyaraj's best characters on screen. He is waiting for more such�roles, roles which would take him and the movie to greater heights of recognition.
