Santosh Sivan confirms film on Sri Lankan refugees
After his Before the Rains, which earned much acclaim at many international film festivals, cinematographer-turned-director Santosh Sivan is currently busy shooting ace director Mani Ratnam's prestigious bilingual Raavan/ Ashokavanam in the hills of Malshej Ghat in Mumbai.
While talking about his future projects during an interview, Santosh Sivan has confirmed earlier reports that he would soon begin work on his next film on terrorism and the Sri Lankan Tamil issue by the end of this year. "My script is almost done and I will be casting new faces in it,” he informed.
By the end of this month, Santosh Sivan will be in his home state (Kerala) for the release of Before The Rains, after which he takes of to North America with his film Tahaan.
Some sources say Santosh Sivan has plans to direct a sequel for his Malayalam mega-blockbuster Yodha (1992), starring Mohanlal and Jagathy Sreekumar in pivotal roles. It is reported that Mohanlal has already allocated his dates for the sequel titled Yodha 2. The makers plan to rope in Lakshmi Rai as the heroine. Harris Jayaraj will score the music.
