Ravana: Ash is not Sita
Finally, Ash opens up a little on Mani Ratnam's Ravana. The actress said that she is not called Sita in the movie. The actress, who was at a press conference in Kolkata for her Hollywood movie Pink Panther 2, said after much deliberation, “The name of my character is not Sita. I am playing a woman who has similarities withSita of Ramayana.”
Though the Bollywood beauty refused to elaborate furtheron themovie's plot, she called it an “intense film set in today's time” and added that the director has given a “totally new perspective to the art of storytelling”.
Ask her if she is pairing opposite her husband Abhishek, Ash is quick to respond. “Not really. We have never been paired opposite each other in the conventional way, apart fromKuchh Naa Kaho. Be it Dhoom 2 or Sarkar Raj, it's not the conventional man-wife pairing. Even in Guru, the film revolves around Abhishek. So, by the time Ravana happened, we have become used to this.”
“Abhishek is one of the nicest co-actors I have seen so far. It is always a pleasure to act with him. I'm not saying this because I'm his wife," the 'Pink Panther' lady said with a smile.
Talking about Pink Panther 2, the Bachchan Bahu said, “The film is a joy ride. Anyone who is familiar with English films and Pink Panther will know what I mean when I say the film is a 'joy ride'. Although I have a small role in the film, I said 'yes' only because I wanted to work with institutions like Steve Martin. Besides, I have highest regard for comedy because it is the most difficult emotion to portray on screen. Pink Panther 2 is an easy comedy and every one can watch it with family.”
The shooting of Ravana is about to resume in mid-March in shooting locations near Sunderbans, sources said. Hope the Abhi-Ash-Mani trio give us another unique film with Ravana.
