Rajan P. Dev award for Kalabhavan Mani

Popular comedian-turned-hero and villain Kalabhavan Mani has been selected for the Rajan P. Dev Award, instituted by Enquire Movie in memory of Malayalam-Tamil actor-villain Rajan P. Dev, who passed away in July. The award will be presented at a function to be held in Thrissur at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Auditorium on November 28.

Born in Chertala in Alappuzha district, Rajan P. Dev began his career as a stage artiste in the 1970's and won the best actor award twice. He immortalized the character Kochu Vava in the hit play 'Kattukuthira' that was staged over 1000 times across Kerala.

He later switched over to films in the 80s and portrayed villain and character roles with ease. His last film was Ee Pattanathil Bhootham, starring superstar Mammootty. Dev had also directed two Malayalam films: Achamakuttiyude Achayan and Achante Kochu Molku.
