The 54th National Awards (for 2006) have been officially announced. Actress Priyamani receives the National Award for best actress this year for her performance in Paruthiveeran. This is a very prestigious award given to actors of Indian origin and is considered as the highest award of the nation in the field of cinema. So, it is indeed a matter of pride for Priyamani.
