Pa. Vijay’s big screen aspirations!

This is the first time a lyricist is debuting as hero of a film. Gnabagangal has lyricist Pa. Vijay, who has written over 2000 songs, including a National award-winning song as the hero; he has also written the story and screenplay for the film. What�inspired him to take up the role?

“I have always wanted to be a lyricist. But I have been approached by directors for playing�a lead role. So I just thought, why I should not do it? That is how Gnabagangal came about,” says Vijay. If the film turns out to be a hit, Vijay has plans to handle both his roles -- as an actor�doing something more than singing duets and fighting with villains on the big screen and also�as�a poet. He also wants to be a director some day.�
