Modhi Vilayadu music review!
The movie: Modhi Vilayadu directed by Saran has Vinay and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. This romantic thriller is produced by MediaOne Global Entertainment Ltd in association with Gemini Industries and Imaging Ltd. Singers Hariharan and Leslie (Colonial Cousins) make their debut in Tamil musical composition through this film.
'Latcham Varthaigal' - Singer: Ranjani
After first listening to the song, it sounds like any other westernised number. But as Ranjani adds life and beauty to it through her singing, one can also appreciate the nuances and high points in the composition.
'Ottrai Varthaiyel' - Singer: Shaan
A lilting background score sets the stage for this melodious number. Shaan's rendition affirms a sense of serenity and a joyous feel.
'Paathikadal' - Singers: Bombay Jayashree, Sunitha Sarathy
Waves and waves of classical music immerse us in a supreme state of happiness in this number. Bombay Jayashree handles the classical part replete with a beautiful alaap; dynamics and Sunitha Sarathy takes care of the contemporary portions.
'Vellaikkari' - Singers: Leslie, Achu, Hariharan
The song is a chorus, a musical melange in three varied voices. Leslie's and Achu's voices are sprightly yet register with a blissful effect. Hariharan sings the lead portion with his usual elan.
'Modhi Vilayadu' - Singers: Deva, Hariharan
This rendition is in an unusual combination. Hariharan's classically seasoned voice and Deva's raw, innocent voice blend together effectively well. There is an element of grandstanding as well as a endearing quality in the number.
'Chikki Mukki' - Singers: Leslie, Surmukhi
Leslie's voice is in fine form and feel in this number; he even scores in his almost-perfect pronunciation of Tamil words. Surmukhi's smooth-flowing rendition establishes the romance and lust expressed in the lyrics and tune.
The Colonial Cousins have emphatically proved their musical mastery through the Modhi Vilayadu album.
