Let us laugh day!
People across the world celebrate today as ‘Let us laugh day’.
What is the significance of laughter on the big screen? Comedy in films has a greater impact on people than in any other genre. People even like to watch their favourite comedy 'bits' from various movies on the exclusive comedy TV channels. However, the comic stalwarts who ruled the industry and the styles they brought on the silver screen varied from time to time. In N.S. Krishnan’s times, simple jokes derived from day-to-day changes and activities were enough to induce a belly-laugh in the public. Then Chandrababu’s style of dancing and dialogue deliveries ruled the roost. As far as Nagesh and Manorama’s on-screen comedy were concerned, there was so much of logic and emotion involved. Cho Ramaswamy picked his gag lines from the political happenings of the day, more satire than comedy. Suruli Rajan and Thengai Srinivasan dwelt on action-oriented comedy. Among today’s comedians, Vivek delivers worthy messages and points to ponder in all his clever remarks; Kovai Sarala’s is situational comedy; Vadivelu and Co. are known for an enthralling combination of action and punch dialogues. Karunas’ track goes along with the hero’s.
An enjoyable comedy carries so much value that even heroes and heroines have attempted full-length comic roles. In our lives, comedy always has a cathartic effect. It heals all psychological wounds, improves the blood circulation, regulates blood pressure and is good for facial and abdominal muscles too.
So on this 'Let us laugh day', let us all vow to have a hearty laugh! Remember, laugh with others, not at others!
