Karunas starts New Year in high spirits

Vadivelu became a hero with his comedy hit Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi. Following Vadivelu's acceptance as the main protagonist by Tamil audiences, several attempts were made by other comedians to emulate him, but to no avail.

And now, comedian Karunas has debuted as hero in the successful comic entertainer Dindigul Sarathy, proving Tamil audiences do accept comedians who can cross the line from being comedians to shouldering a movie on their own. Dindigul Sarathy, surpassing all expectations, has become a runaway hit, a fitting New Year gift for comedian-turned-hero Karunas.

Karunas credited this success to the team of Dindigul Sarathy. He said, “My team had the confidence that we would make it big with Dindigul Sarathy.” About himself, he stated, “I ventured to start a restaurant and then got into film distribution. Unfortunately, they all failed. However, I didn't lose faith and persevered. God has answered my prayers with Dindigul Sarathy.”

Dindigul Sarathy happens to be inspired by Vadakku Nokki Yanthram, a Malayalam superhit that won rave reviews and became a favourite of women audiences who loved the realistic narration of the story.
