Karthik-Anitha: Music review

Karthik-Anitha is a contemporary love story directed by Srihari, one of director Sundar C.’s protégés. Music for the movie is composed by newcomer Jack Anand. ‘Thada Thada’ sparkles because of the sweet-sounding rhyme in its lyrics. However, the tune appears to be lifted from an earlier melody; Karthik and Kalyani make this cheerful romantic number a chart-topper.‘ Megamai’ by Bellyraj and Sangeetha is another charming romantic number. Haricharan’s solo ‘Kadhal Saalai’ is exceedingly sweet because of its tune. The audio effect adds more appeal to the composition. Tippu and Manickavinayagam’s ‘Ayyo Ayyo’ has nothing new to offer. Yet the song should quickly join the all-time favourite list.

‘Oh Nenje’ by Rita and Harish Raghavendra is a sorrowful song that clearly brings out the pain and loss associated with the lovers’ separation. The final unplugged composer’s piece, soft and mellifluous, sums up his imprint on the movie album.

Though there is very little in terms of innovation in Jack Anand’s tunes for Karthik-Anitha, he has successfully explored and trod through the much-known musical track in his debut.
