Kamal’s dedication in Dasavathaaram

Every film he does is with great dedication and panache. But Dasavathaaram is so grand that it has taken all that Kamal can give and the experience has only made the actor stronger.

This actor always has an insatiable hunger for cinema and excellence in it, which is channelled through works like Dasavathaaram. Kamal has reached a point where he is the only one who could make films like Dasavathaaram, such is the calibre and interest level of this artist. He respects the audience and caters to their needs; at the same time, he takes their needs to newer levels when he attempts to nourish the artist inside him.

Shooting some scenes in Dasavathaaram had been excruciatingly taxing, for example, the first song of the film, 'Kallai Mattum Kandal'. In this song, Kamal is shown to be hanging by the skin of his back through hooks. No, Kamal was not pierced for real, though it appears so realistic (It will not be a wonder if he attempts such daring acts in future!!). This song took one week to shoot and all this week, Kamal worked for 6-7 hours a day, most of the time hanging in the air supported by wires.

All this pain does not deter the artist to stop attempting such acts. Kamal Haasan is not only a gift to Indian cinema but to World cinema.
