Kadhalna Summa Illai’s climax in naxal area

Raj Network, which revolutionized small screen entertainment, turned into a film production company with Kadhalna Summa Illai, a remake of popular Telugu film Gamyam starring Ravi Krishna (of 7G Rainbow Colony fame) and Kamalini Mukherjee (of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu fame) in the lead roles. It also introduces Tollywood’s Sarvanand to Kollywood. Ilankannan, who directed the Arjun starrer Ottran, directs it.

The team underwent a great deal of hardship while filming Kadhalna Summa Illai, but nothing was as tough as the fear that engulfed them while shooting its climax. The reason? The climax was shot in naxalite-ridden Rampachodavaram near Rajahmundry. Their tribulations and fear were very evident when director Ilankannan, with a deadpan face, recounted their experience while shooting in Rampachodavaram. Rampachodavaram is in news every day for its naxalite activities – the local headlines always announce someone’s death by naxalites hand or some naxalite’s death at the hands of police. The director recalled that the entire unit was feeling as restless as if they were standing on “burning splinters”. “We never knew whom we were interacting with! Any bystander could be a naxalite. It was frightening. And to make our fears worse, we heard that the naxalites had killed about 30 people just the day before we landed in the village. But thankfully they did not harm anyone of us,” narrated the director.

Nevertheless, the unit stuck together and finished off the climax scene as quickly as possible but without compromising on the quality. Now, Kadhalna Summa Illai is in its post-production stages and will be ready for release soon.
