K. Balachander on his first love!
K. Balachander, the grand acharya of Tamil cinema who sculpted many artistes through the years, has decided to move back to his first love, theatre through Kavithalaya, his production house. After making several movies and teleserials, the veteran director has decided to start off once again with stage dramas.
His comeback is with Pournami, which is the name of the play and the main protagonist. Balachander is quite sure that he can pull people back into theatre; after having judged audience tastes for decades, he now offers a clean and complete story with impeccable presentation.
Some of Balachander's earlier plays include Navagraham, Major Chandrakanth, Edhirneechal and Neerkumizhi. Pournami promises to be a trendsetter; its subject sparks a natural debate about situations and circumstances.
As any old-timer would say, "The legend is back"; youngsters too are flocking to see this play and derive inspiration.
Pournami from Kavithalaya Theatre is a fine play with the signature of its gurunathar!
