Jackie Chan beats Harrison Ford

In Tamil Nadu, Jackie Chan and Jet Li starrer The Forbidden Kingdom has pushed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull into a downspin in box office ratings.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li’s Forbidden Kingdom has done better business than the Indiana Jones film in both English and Tamil.

This success is attributed to three reasons: Jackie’s popularity in Tamil Nadu in comparison with Harrison Ford and his Indiana Jones series (even the most devoted Indiana Jones aficionado is also a diehard and ardent Jackie Chan fan), Jackie’s recent visit to the city, and Jet Li.

Theatre owners say that Jackie sure has an edge over other English or Hong Kong stars. They said that had Indiana Jones been released after or before Jackie Chan’s Forbidden Kingdom, its collections would have been higher. Because adventure films like Indiana Jones too do well considering the box office performance of Van Helsing, which was about the adventures of Van Helsing, a vampire slayer.
