Idea Filmfare Awards (Tamil) presented
The 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2008 (Tamil) were presented at a glittering function held in Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Friday night (July 31). Filmfare Awards South is the southern version of the annual Filmfare Awards and given annually to honour the best talents in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Celebrities who took part in the function include Suriya, Jyotika, Nagarjuna, Amala, Ileana, Sneha, Genelia, Parvathy, Shantnoo, Khushbu, Rambha, Ram Charan Teja, Shriya, Reema Sen, Samuthirakani, Sasikumar, James Vasanthan, Charmi., Kajal Agrawal, Divya Spandana, Radhika, Priyamani, Allu Arjun, Allari Naresh and others.
This year's winners are:
Best film – Subramaniapuram
Best director – Sasikumar (Subramaniapuram)
Best actor – Suriya (Vaaranam Aayiram)
Best actress – Parvathy (Poo)
Best supporting actress – Simran (Vaaranam Aayiram)
Best supporting actor – Ajmal (Anjathey)
Best music director – Harris Jayaraj (Vaaranam Aayiram)
Best male playback singer – Naresh Iyer (Vaaranam Aayiram)
Best female playback singer – Deepa Maraim (Subramaniapuram)
Best lyricist – Thamarai (Nenjukkul Peithidum…)
Best debutant south male – Shantanoo (Sakkarakatti)
